Melissa is a Hong Kong native. After receiving her Bachelor of Art in Dance from Dean College, MA in 2014, she resided to Brooklyn New York and started her path as a professional dancer. Wu most recently performed in her own choreography as part of Sanctuary Project NYC's production.  She was previously performing with New York City based companies like Buglisi Dance Theatre and J Chen Project. 

 

Melissa is a certified Dancing to Connect(DtC) teaching artist through Battery Dance's DtC Institute program. She sucessfully led her own workshop (Dance of The Inner Self) with freshman dancers in her dance department at Dean College. She had also co-lead a teacher training workshop for people with disabilities in Hong Kong with BDC's teaching artist. 

 

Melissa is also a self-taught photographer, videographer and Graphic Designer. She had dedicated her skills to Battery Dance’s Annual Downtown Dance Festival 2014, and since then responsible for all of the company’s marketing materials.  

 

Wu currently lives in Brooklyn and recently left her position as Digital Media Coordinator at Battery Dance to focus fully as a freelancer in dance and media.
